  1. As far as I know they are both the same actual drive. The one with the "R5" suffix comes with a mounting bracket so you can easily mount it in a standard 3.5" drive bay.

I'm pretty sure I'd have heard if Intel made some other "G2" drive than their standard 160GB model. They sell the same drive in various SKU's that designate things like retail vs. non-retail packaging, presence or absence of the 2.5-inch grommet (the drive itself is in a 1.8" enclosure), presence or absence of the 3.5" adapter bracket, etc.

Here's a list of the product codes - unfortunately it doesn't include the "K5"-suffix one you've linked to. But the way the product codes are organized those last two digits are just the packaging options as I described above.
  4. Hey sminlal, thx for taking time to provide link, appreciate it.

But like you mentioned, no K5 item.

Does anyone has experience with this item?

  5. Hi ya.
Just spoke to Intel tech support.......
Answer like smimlal stated, they are IDENTICAL drive, just in different packaging.

Ordered mine from newegg, cheaper and comes with $40 rebate (ending today tho).
