Drive not accessible

Windows explorer "sees" my external hd, but when I click to see files, I get a message to run checklst because drive is corrupt or unreadable. When I run chkdsk I get a message "cannot find drive"

Using Admin Tools > Disk Management can you see the Drive, and does it have a valid File System ?

Have you looked in device manager for errors, update drivers or scan device for hardware changes ? Also check the USB entries.

use a hardisk utility to verify the disk integrity, and apply fixes that it provides.

the file index table may have been damaged.
