Seem that I read somewhere that RAM for the i5/i7 LGA 1156 CPUs and MBs has to be purchased in pairs.
An even number of sticks, anyone know if this is correct.
The 1156 series uses Dual-Channel memory - a pair of memory controllers give significantly faster access if the memory is configured the same on each channel.
This means you should try to buy the RAM modules in pairs - and if you don't you should buy two identical modules at a time when expanding or replacing memory.
Generally, this means on current builds, you would put 2 - 1GB modules for 2GBs of RAM, 2 - 2GB modules for 4 GBs of RAM, 4 - 2GB modules for 8GBs, etc... 4GB modules tend to be more expensive per GB than 2GBs.

Thank You, you made that very clear, very helpful.
