I have a radeonx700 which is working flawlessly, and I need to know if the 8500GT is any better; that is all.
Thanks

For about the same price at the 8500GT (maybe $5 - $10 more) you can buy the HD 4650 which is a vast improvement over the 8500GT. It is a PCI-e card, so if you are still on AGP then it's not for you.

HIS Radeon HD 4650 = $46 (after $10 rebate) + free shipping

You may also want to consider a Galaxy 9500GT = $40 (after $20 rebate) + free shipping

Both card are considerably faster than the 8500T. I believe the 9500GT is about the equivalent to the 8600GT. Of the two cards I recommended, I would guess the HD 4650 is faster.

The thing about mail-in rebates is you may not get it.

I'm getting the card for 30$.
My computer that has the RadeonX700 can play L4D, CS:S, and most other games with good FPS/0 lag.
My other computer has an integrated Nvidia7050, but has twice the processor speed.

Like I said, the only games I'll be playing are:

Hl2DM
Counter-Strike:Source
Left4Dead
Red Alert3(2, and 1 as well).
C&C Generals(ZH as well).

My RadeonX700 plays all of those well. In CS:S I get an FPS of about 150, L4D getting any 30(No lag, though). Also; remember I'm getting the Nvidia8500GT for 30$. It's a good deal IIRC.

All I want to know is if the Nvidia8500GT is better than the RadeonX700. Nothing else, except if you could guess which FPS the 8500 would get.

Thanks,
Steve

The 8500GT would be a bit better, its really not a gaming card. But if your X700 can get those FPS., then this card probably will do bit better.

@ wolfie187: Agree with the others: It is not a huge upgrade but will be useful, I think you will find it to be $30 well spent.
BTW, who said you could use my work nickname?
You will be hearing from my lawyers in the morning;)
