I have been trying to overclocking my q8400, i got to 8400, but when i push it farther than 3.06 windows will not boot.
I'm running windows 7 pro and my mobo is an ASUS P5N-D.
Its posts just fine when i had it a 3.2 ghz, but windows refused to boot.

Thanks in advance for help.

I have a similar problem with my E8400 (C2D). I can't get it past 3.7GHz, even when changing the voltage. Mine's perfectly stable at 3.7, prime95 runs for hours without crashing. Is yours stable too?

That's good to here. Taking it further than 3.2ghz requires a step up on the vcore voltage. Of course it all depends on the Motherboard's chipset and ram. Had mine @ 3.2ghz, all setting to auto. My board is asus P5Q SE Plus 8gb 800mhz ddr2
