New laptop cannot establish wireless access point

have a wired Vista, wireless XP, and a Windows 7
i am trying to connect to my wireless network with my windows 7, and it keeps telling me that Windows is unable to find a wireless access point--i am getting ready to go out and get a new router, as i just don't know what to do
it lists my router as getting an excellent signal and strength--just won't connect
HELP!!!

Have you tried temporarily turning off wireless encryption -- might help narrow down possibilities.

Also check that Access List (exclude/include by MAC address) is disabled.
