The X48 chipset only supports Intel socket 775 processors - no i7, no i5...

bilbat is CORRECT, I5/I7 require a socket 1156 and a P55 chipset.

If you need further verification - just go to MB support web page and look at "Procs supported"

I've got an X48-DS5, which is essentially the same board, minus the 'crazy-cool' thingie on the back, and the X48 is a ripper, but I can guarantee you - that's a 775 socket on there! No i7s, no i5s...

I'll back balbat and RetiredChief up here. There is no way to fit in i5 or i7 chip into a LGA 775 socket. The GA-X48-DQ6 will NOT run an i5 or i7 chip.
