Line in (Xbox360) to USB headset (logitech g35)

Hello there people.

I just bought a new G35 headset. My problem is that my sound from my Xbox, which comes in on the Line in input on my soundcard, doesnt play in the headset, but plays on the speakers instead.

Im on a gigabyte p35 -ds3 l motherboard ( realtek audio )
My os is Windows 7

Can anyone tell how to get to the sound from the Line In to my usb headset?

  1. Control Panel -> Sounds

Make sure "USB Headset" (or however the G35 is labled) is selected as the primary output device.
  2. yea that was my first thought as well. It is. Still not working
  3. You can't steam it directly because your USB headset is a different soundcard. There is a solution:

You need 3 to download and install 3 files in this order
    - Winamp: www.winamp.com
    - Line-in plugin for Winamp: http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/lineinWA2/index.html
    - Low latency plugin for Winamp: http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/fastwave/index.html

When all files installed, goto Winamp>Options>Preferences. Select output tab and select "Low Latency waveOut plugin". Click configure and select your USB headset. Close the preferences.

In Winamp playlist, click add>add url (or CTRL-L) Use one of these url's. I always use the 'good quality' url. For more info, read the FAQ.

    High quality - line://srate=48000,numbuffers=5000,bufsize=s576,title=High Quality (VIS),hideformat
    Good quality - line://title=Stereo (no VIS),hideformat,bufsize=8192,numbuffers=50
    Normal quality - line://nch=1,title=FM Radio,hideformat
    Bad quality - line://nch=1,bps=8,srate=32000,title=AM

Play the file, and tadaa, your soundcard input is streaming to your USB headset. :)
  4. i know this is an old post, but it came up in google and intrigued me. so there is a way to stream your sound from your xbox through your pc? can anyone elaborate on this... as i am completely unintelligent when it comes to audio :P
  5. use the rca line out jacks on the xbox and connect it to the line in jack on your soundcard. Unmute the "line in" setting in the Master volume control (double click the speaker icon in the bottom rt corner)

You'll need a rca to mini headphone (3.5mm) jack cable such as these:
    http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=rca+to+3.5&hl=en&cid=11787265485154466184&sa=title#p
  6. Wrong jack. You need female on the RCA end. Then it goes right into the line in jack. To get it to the G35, check the "Listen to this device" option and it will play the sound from your 360 to the headset. I just fought with that today, but I've had my 360 hooked up to the computer for years.

This is the cable you need:
    http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=rca+to+3.5&hl=en&cid=8176337424905941455&ei=V5e1S_aJJYieiwTPuejhBA&sa=title&ved=0CDkQ8wIwCTgA#p
  7. Just a thought... If you had that RCA to 3.5mm converter you might be able to plug it in and run it with the headset through one of these things-

No idea if that will work and I can't test it as I don't have a G35, but if someone is willing to test my theory then it may be worthwile.

Edit: Links not working just copy and paste it into your browser

i tried to do what you said.
but winamp crashes when i use the low latency plugin.
i have manged to play a song in winamp with the sound card set as defualt, and i got sound to my usb headset.
but it is very unstable and crashes after a few sec or so.
i also tried the url file that would let me use the headset on everything. but winamp crashes the moment it starts to play the file.

how did you get this to work? i am using windows 7 64 bit. and i have tried the newest winamp and an older one.

using a g35 headset and a creative gamer SB X-FI sound card.
