This problem started occuring yesterday.
during one of my updates, (perhaps VIA update for my AC-
sound card?) the speaker's volume increased greatly.
i re-adjusted it and it seemed fine.
however i have noticed EVERY time i put the computer on
stand by, then awake it, THE VOLUME INCREASES GREATLY.
it is still set on its previous setting, and if moved and
re adjusted, volume will return to normal.
however EACH time i stand by again, the problem re-occurs!
is there something wrong with my computer? (again?!)

You could try:
1) Roll back the driver - (Start), right-click on My
Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Sound,
double-click the device, Driver, hit the Roll Back Driver
button,
.. . . OR . . .
2) System Restore - Start, Help & Support, System Restore.

Good Luck !
