Safe voltages for Core i7 2600K overclock?

I just rebuilt my system with an AsRock P67 4Extreme motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157217

And an i7 2600K, and I just did one of the auto overclock options in the BIOS for 4.2 ghz, and when I'm running it at 100% load (HT on) CPU-Z will show a max of 1.386 volts. Is this normal or is it too high? Would I be able to lower the voltage manually and still keep a stable 4.2 ghz overclock?

Thanks

  1. Okay, thanks for the answers. I figured it out. Flashing BIOS with the new set solved the voltage problem. Now running @ 4.4 ghz with 1.312v
  2. Wow those overclock like mad!

What sort of cooling are you using, and how are the temps?

I was pretty happy to get a stable 4.1ghz OC on my 750 at 1.32V core, 1.25V Vtt, but LinPack maxed out at 80C.
  3. Yeah they're much easier to overclock than the Nehalems or Lynnfields. I'm just using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 +. 20 min of 4.4 ghz on LinPack 70 C max. Idles around 28 C

That is amazing. I'm really happy with mine and all, but the overclocker inside me is definitely feeling a bit jealous haha.
