Asus P5GD2 Premium motherboard cycles on bootup

My P5GD2 premium MB is over 4 years old, and has started freezing or cycling on bootup. It WILL fully boot in safe mode and safe mode with networking.

The system event logs says "A device attached to the system is not functioning" for the DHCP client, the DNS client, TCP/IP NetBIOS and IPSEC. The system fails to load:

I have disabled all onboard devices ands removed all plug in cards except the graphics board - no joy. I have also cleaned the contacts on the graphics card and the memory sticks.

Any suggestions as to where to look next would be appreciated. I'm down to looking at new motherboards.
