Hello,

I recently purchased some new parts for my computer.

AMD Ph2 550 BE
Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H
4G (2x2G) DDR2 800mhz Corsair XMS2

So I put everything together and booted up with Windows XP Home 32bit (Couldn't find my copy of Vista). Anyways I did my first post and OS install with only 2G of memory. However when I logged onto the desktop it was showing up as 1700+ MHZ.

Now I am aware that with XP 32bit only 3.2Ghz of memory will show up, but since I am only using 2G I am wondering if my ram is faulty or is it the OS limiting the memory? My motherboard supports up to 16G (4G per slot) and my memory is running at 800mhz in the bios.

Could it also be that I need to update my bios?

Thanks,

Andrew
