During the trouble with my OE, I tried many things.That issue has been resolved with your help,but now I have lost the use of my media player. Clicking on an attachment of a video or a sound file usually made the player to begin playing it. I have checked folders and program access and downloaded Win Media 11 again and reinstalled it to no avail. Any thoughts? Thanks

No great loss, if you ask me. Download Videolan which is a compact media player which works with quite a few movie formats.
