I've been trying different clock settings and speeds, and while I can attain greater speeds w/ stability unlinked, I cannot understand why I cannot post past 3.61G linked/sync'd. Anything higher than 1700 QDR halts the sysytem just before the memory check. Throwing more voltage did not seem to matter.

Ram issue? Have you tried reducing the ratio or increasing RAM timings?

I can get it running well on "auto" ratio. Not sure what to try with the timings, any suggestions? Linked & sync'd is the problem.

I have a question and a suggestion.

What OP/SYS are you using?

Try removing the two 1G sticks and see if that helps.

CDQ's seem to not OC as well when all the memory slots are being used. If you must use the extra memory slots I would use the same value/mfg. memory as in the first two slots. 2 X 2G so you would have 8G total memory.

All Ram is Cor Dom first 2 are 2gb second 2 ARE 1GB- settings are the same (unless I'm missing something).

The two different value memory could be what is holding you back.

Give it a shot with just the 2G sticks and see if you have better luck.

All it will cost you is the time to do it.:)

BINGO! removed the two 1gb sticks and fired up Linked and sync'd first try at 3.72.
So, if I add 2x2gb of same exact ram (total of 8gb) should it still work or is the 4 slots the issue?

Now that is the question!

I do not know.:(

It will depend on your particular hardware. You should have a much better chance at achieving a higher OC than what you were experiencing.

These Q9550 will normally run ~ 3.83GHz with quality components but sometimes using all four slots do seem to limit your OC with them.

Using 1066 limits your theoretical FSB to 533(4.5GHz) assuming your M/BD has settings that high and you can keep that thing cool.

Good luck to what ever you decide. :sol:

Thanks for the help. It may be hard to find that memory at a reasonable price too.

Found this. Newegg doesn't seem to carry it any more.

If it has anything to do with Thermaltake, it's a BAD IDEA.
