Hello,

Trying to upgrade my gaming pc from an opty 165 and 7900gt.

Doing this on a budget of ~750 dollars.

I will use my current HD, Optical drive and case.

The new components are as follows, please let me know if you see any problems or have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Made some adjustments based on suggestions...thanks again!

Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128378

CPU - AMD Phenom II X3 720 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103649

RAM - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227320

VIDEO CARD - XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150359

PS - SILVERSTONE ELEMENT ST85EF 850W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817256050

HEATSINK - XIGMATEK http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835233003

Comes to $786.39, $706.39 with rebates.

I don't think I could do much better for the money but like I said let me know if you can think of anything.

Better ram option:

I would go with a 790x MB to save some money, having the dual x16 bandwidth makes very little difference over 8x

If you want to xfire later, then I would suggest getting a slightly better PSU, I think you will be running hot on that one. Look at a 750tx.

The Xigmatek S1283 regular version actually cools better than the DK, and since you cant use the mounting bracket then there is no point in getting the DK.

look for a silverstone 850w element since you might want the extra space for overclocking and extra items etc.

it also only costs $135, $110 after rebate. thats $30 less than the corsair 850 after rebate and they are spec'd exactly the same.

How about
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.182106

an AM3 board so some of the combo saving is offset by paying a bit more for DDR3 RAM

Not a bad option, particularly if you want to upgrade the CPU in a couple years and still use the MB.

Thanks for the suggestions. Made adjustments in initial post.

I'm looking at ddr3 to go with the combo and these OCZ have nice timings and a pretty sweet price. Is this a good kit?
