Gadget Gift Ideas For Everyone
I've been running in circles trying to get a clear answer for my question with no luck. I notice the 4870s and 4890s both have 7.1 audio via HDMI. Does this include Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio? Edit: My receiver will be handling the decoding (Yamaha HTR-6160) which is a TrueHD/DD+/DTS Master Audio receiver.
I think that the card just alows the audio to pass through, I don't think it does any decoding.
Get as sound card for that an pass thru the audio via cable to the HD 48xx.
My receiver will be handling the decoding (Yamaha HTR-6160) which is a TrueHD/DD+/DTS Master Audio receiver.
I believe DD TrueHD + DTS MA can only be transmitted via HDMI 1.3. Analog does not have HDCP, and Optical does not have a large enough bandwidth. Which means only this $300 card can do it, and if I'm paying $300 might as well get a better graphics card instead.
