Alright, i uninstalled the 181 drivers with the new 185 ones, but there was no driver sweep, and i have a GTX 260...

another thing, i am connected to my monitor by VGA, and my monitor likes 60 hz...

and now, whenever i try to get into the logon screen, it comes up with this:

ANALOG WRONG HZ!!!

75, Should be 60!

I can boot into safe mode, what the hell should i do now? get a new monitor with 75 hz?

Uninstall the drivers in safe mode.

Run driver sweeper.

Re install 185 drivers.

You should allways at least uninstall the old drivers before installing new ones over the top.

After you uninstall the drivers in safemode it will restart.

You should then be able to get back into normal windows.

Then run driversweeper.

Restart

Then install the 185 drivers

i did everything you said, still the same problem...

out of range
74.5/60khz

Okay, is this because im using a DVI-VGA converter, since my GTX 260 has only DVI outputs, and maybe analog is only limited to 60 hz?

what the living hell is going on? should i switch back to old drivers?

alright, i got the stupid driver 185 to work... the weird thing is, i typed my password blindly, and it just went into the desktop like nothing happened...

However, I cannot pick my resolution of 1440x900, and PowerStrip doesn't work on this driver....

But, the resolution thing is not the drivers fault, but the way my computer is connected to the monitor.

GPU -> DVI-VGA adapter -> VGA connection

and, i think i have to get a real DVI connection anyway... the GPU displays on my screen, but doesn't recoginize the monitor itself, which is why it is not giving me the 1440x900 i want.

yea... then how do i get 1440x900 to show up on an DVI-> VGA connection?

it has this resolution and that, but noooooooo 1440x900!
Because it's not a direct connection! i said there's a middleman involved, the DVI-VGA adapter...

ok... nevermind... the almighty Nvidia custom resolution panel did the trick...

by the way, what the hell is "bits" per pixel?

and how do i exactly get the right info for my monitor?

it's lemme see...

alright, i got the driver 185 fixed up, the resolution fixed up... now...

WHY THE HELL IS IT SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS?

Why can't it be something as simple as like say...

a new driver comes out, and you download it...
It will automatically overwrite your old driver, while having its own sweeper function...

i mean, come on... make it not so pain-in-the-ass!

yea, it WAS powerstrip, screw that program... i can't even get into the logon screen with that program, it hangs in the limbo between the booting bar and the logon screen... I had to forcefully turn it off.
