A-n78hd & phenom II x4 940

Have you check for compatibility on the Abit website?

Abit website shows no support page for A-n78hd. Only one AN78 board listed with ABIT support. It's very doubtful a PII 940 is supported by your MB. A specific BIOS would have to be issued for support.
