I have a Dell Dimension 5150 P4 that originally came with four Dual In-Line Memory Modules of part # F6761 (512533M,64X64,8,240,1RX8) which totalled 2 GB of memory. Later, I upgraded this memory and now I have some left over memory. On the leftover chips themselves, it indicates "Samsung 512MN 1Rx8 PC2-4200U-444-12-D3".
Does anyone know if I can use this in a Dell Dimension 8300 that has it's original memory part listed as having two "Dual Inline Memory Module 256,400M,32X64 8K,184"?
How do I determine if this memory is compatible or should I just contact Dell directly?
You should be able. to. I've swapped memory from Dell to Dell a few times without any issues. Take another look at the memory that came with the 8300 and see if it has a "u" in it somewhere, if it does, you should be good to go. If not, give it a shot, as I'm sure it'll work just fine.

Pretty sure you should be able to just open the case and try and put it in. DDR ram won't fit in a DDR2 slot.
