Dvi and hdmi are the same quality (though most dvi wont accept sound whereas hdmi does.)

Dsub (vga) is inferior in general. But if you have a properly shielded cable and good analog conversion the difference is minimal.

so i should connect with dvi to dvi-d because i have a sound card and speakers connected to my sound card and not speakers in my monitor. Correct?

Yes DVI-D is the best one to use in your setup.

HDMI has teh exact same pin signal as DVI-D. If you have all of the above on the monitor a dvi cable is generally cheeper, so go with that as you dont need the sound.
