hello folks!
Which DvD burner is better: Samsung SH S-222 or LG GH22NP20. My current configuration is: mobo with intel 915G chipset, pentium 4 3.0GHz HT, 2GB DDR2 533Mhz,160GB WD SATA, DVD-ROM Samsung SH-352F PATA. I have just one PATA cable and one more free space for DVD drive...
Thanks!

No links?

Whichever is cheaper. Might want to double check that its an IDE burner and not a SATA burner.

Thanks

How would one be better then the other? A 16x burner is just like any other 16x burner. Or in the case of the model numbers your showing, 22x burners. When I burn I usually still burn at 4x just to make sure its a good one.

And some people have issues with ford while others chevy. There is the matter of quality control, but even the best of manufacturers have duds every now and then. I still say buy whichever is cheaper.

My first choice is Samsung, with LG a very close second.

I'd put LITE-ON down at the bottom of the list with Acer. I have owned one LITE-ON. It failed within 9 months.

I know many people who love liteon drives. I'm with JSC in not liking them. My favorite happens to be the HP branded drives. (which for all I know are liteon drives.) I have a benQ that died to fast for my tastes, an older HP drive that I had died around the same time and I got much more use out of it.

lite on does work with sony optiarc ,so some some lite ons have sony or nec firmware but the lite ons that are not branded out are very stable and reliable!hp is also very reliable!

i have 3 liteon drives that are 2 years old,but agree that acer drives are junk!

That won't matter. As far as performance is concerned, your system will not care. And you will not be able to tell by any difference in performance.

475454b, I don't know about the HP DVD drives, but the CD drive mechanisms were Phillips. And Benq is basically Acer by another name.
