I've just switched from cable to DISH and have one of their
dual-receiver DVRs. I've parked the TiVo for now but I'm having
problems with the transition.

Can someone explain, simply, how to record two programs at once?

On the major networks, there is no program information more than a
couple of hours out. I can't set up, for example, West Wing except for
reruns on another station. Is there a way around this?

Using the timer to record only "new" shows doesn't seem to have
worked. The Daily Show, for instance, shows up in the list about 10
times a day although I only want the "new" show in the evening.

What the heck is a "Dish Pass". I can't find anything in the manual.

TIA.

To record two programs at once (in dual mode) press MENU-8-6 and enable
the Record Plus preference on the opposite TV.

If the guide is inaccurate you can always set up a manual timer. Press
MENU-7, select Timers, then Manual.

For a description of Dish Pass, bring up the page and select Help.

I figured out how to record on the opposite TV; once it's set up to
record, do I then switch the preference back?

For some reason, I can't edit a Timer once it's created, unless it's
manual. The Edit button is greyed (or grayed) out when I look at the
list. WTF?

Help, again, please, this is driving me nuts. Other than deleting the
Timer and creating a new one, I can't figure out how to change
something from "All" to "New" -- and I'm not sure how they ended up as
"All" but that's another story.
