Hey guys/gals.

My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R.

RAM is Kingston.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139267&Tpk=KVR1333D3N9K3%2f12G

The RAM is running @ 1066, but I wanna get it to the stock 1333. Memory doesn't support XMP(at least I don't see that it does) so I need to adjust manually. I know I need to go into "MIT" in the BIOS and adjust the "BLCK" settings. Not sure *what* settings need to be adjusted though? This is my first time messing with this stuff and I don't wanna break anything.

Here are the specs from the RAM to run @ 1333:

9 (CL)
9 (tRCD)
9 (trp or tRCP)
27 (tra, trd or tRAS)
1 (CMD)
1.5 Voltage

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time... :)

Well first I wanna say that you don't need to mess with blck...unless you want to overclock your cpu that is...

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1473/x58a-ud3r-bios1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1473/4/&usg=__RWa2nVW5tx6h06ra72OgWHr87j4=&h=342&w=550&sz=71&hl=en&start=1&sig2=OpwpHcr-2OMqGDYn-VcaLw&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=1Cfg1hMjzMzqHM:&tbnh=83&tbnw=133&prev=/images%3Fq%3DGigabyte%2BGA-X58-UD3R%2Bbios%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dopera%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26channel%3Dsuggest%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=QGU7TYOuLoeisQOh5rWOAw

1. Go into MIT -> Advanced Frequency Settings and change your System Memory Multiplier to make your target speed 1333 (its the blue text underneath the settings)
2. You need to go into Advanced Memory Settings and set timing settings for Channel A, B, and C Timing Settings. That's where you set the 9-9-9-27 settings...
3. Go into Advanced Voltage Settings and make sure your Dram voltage is set to 1.5
4. Save you bios settings and exit...
there you have it that's exactly how you set your ram to operate at recommended settings by you ram manufacturer... good luck ;)

Thank you videl. Will do.

The Gigabyte support tech said I would hafta mess with the BLCK settings because changing my RAM speed is considered a *form* of OCing. That the only reason I mentioned it. I'm very new(b) to OCing *anything*...

Thanks again for the reply.... :)

yeah to oc you ram you only need to mess with System Memory Multiplier...
because blck will overclock both your ram and your cpu...
and you're very welcome ;)

btw, why is your user name VSTJuNkiE? Do you record music using VSTs or something?

Good observation bro. Yes. Yes I do... :D

Recent build is DAW only. Usually up to no good @ the KVR forums... :pt1cable:

If your interested in music/music production you should check it out. Lots-o-good folk there....

Awww man. I chose the wrong answer as the best answer... Any way to change it?

Btw, I use FL Studio, Ableton Live(Intro) and Reaper (a little) as hosts. Great apps all around. If your interested in some (legally) free vst(i)'s lemme know. Thanks...

Yeah, I sent a mod a pm. We'll see what happens...lol

NI usually has a summer sale where updates are 50% off. If you can afford it, I highly recommend Komplete 7 (I have K5 and K6). Well worth it.
