Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums. I don't know if this belongs in the CPU subsection, so move this thread if necessary.
I recently bought a D975XBX motherboard off Ebay, version D29532-303. Based on this compatability list, the E6700 is the fastest Core 2 Duo that's compatible with this motherboard. Does anyone know any further information? For instance, will a newer Wolfdale C2D work in this board? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Probably not. The 975 was an early socket 775 chipset for high end pentium d cpus. Some boards with this chipset wouldn't even run any core2 duos unless the board manufacturer updated the bios. Some don't; they would rather you purchase a new board.
