im trying to build a new gaming machine so far i have a 3870x2 a phenom 2x2 545 and 2g of dual channel ddr2 ram with a 780w power supply. What i need help with is choosing a motherboard best suited for these parts the video card is huge so i dont think a micro MB will work with it. thanx in advance for the advice
Well, first I'd scratch the Phenom II x2 545 and pay $10 more for a 550 Black Edition. Many good reasons for this.
Pick a mfg site, either Asus or Gigabyte. Look at their AM2+ and AM3 boards and see what features you like. Narrow down choice to 1 or 2 boards. Then go to the other site and find a couple that match those. Then go to NewEgg or another big reseller and look up those boards, see the price differences. Find a limitation search that gives you the ones from Asus and Giga and see what other mfgs boards also show.
