I currently have one of the original C2D E6600 2.4 and an older motherboard that only supports ddr2 667, which I have 2 gigs of and my PCIe x16 slot is not 2.0 either.

my GPU is nvidia 8800 gts 512 which is fine for me atm, ill upgrade that in a bit, i'm just thinkin of my processor and mb atm.

I wanted to do an upgrade that wouldnt kill me budget wise so I wont go the i7 route, so I was thinking of getting a Q9550 and new mb that has PCIe 2.0 and supports like ddr2 1066 ram and getting about 4 gigs of it. I'm a big gamer, so would this upgrade be worth it for the next year or so?

thx in advance ^^

Remember to get a good heatsink if you plan on overclocking that Q9550.

You could also wait 2 months or so until the Core i5 CPU line comes out and then you won't have an end of line motherboard
