Go into bios.Change ECHI to IDE.Change boot order so CD drive is the first boot.Install XP from drive.You will lose the Wndows 7 operating system.

That is the EASY part. Then you must track down all the drivers. Hopefully you are not doing this on a laptop because you may never get all the special hardware working. . .

And if you DO get everything working then plan on spending hours installing all the XP updates.

ECHI should be AHCI that's what it shows under SATA MODE on my laptop.ECHI was from memory but I was wrong.

yes , you can do that . why you face the difficulty to co exist the 7 and xp is because they use diffreent concepts for boot manamgement. XP uses the ntldr approch and 7 use the bootmgr approch
