Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe OC Palm
Proccessor: Core i7 2.6gzh
Ram: OCZ Platinum 6GB, DDR3 1600 Tripple Channel
Video Card: Sapphire 4870 x2
HSF: Zalman CNPS 9700 w/ 1366 Brace
PSU: ABS Tagan BZ1100w Series
Thermal Paste: Arctic Cooling MX-2
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm WD Caviar
Case: CM Storm Sniper
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64b

So I've put the system together, and I am not getting the frames I feel I should, I have
gone through and removed some of the useless services that Vista offers. I have not
over-clocked the PC yet (I am still researching how). The computer is running reletivily cool
(Core Temp)

When I Benched it with 06Mark, I got a score of about 16.9k
But I know I can get better out of this, a friend of mine built
a system over 2 years ago and he gets the same BM, and he
is not running even close to the hardware I am.

Also, when I ran Windows 7 I got a lot better (about 22k) out
of BM, but a lot of compatibility issues came up.

I'll send anyone a DXDiag if they are interested in giving me a hand.

Thanks so much for the time.

What games are you playing, and what framerates are you getting? (use fraps to measure fps)

Also, are you running 3DMark06 at the default settings and resolution?

As for the 3d Mark question; yes
I have not adjusted any settings.

As for games; I've been playing WoW and getting like 10-30 frames in Dalaran (populated city) both inside, and out.
And in raids (25 ppl) between the same. When Iw as running win 7 I was hitting 55-65fps

I'm running about the same components you are and I get about 17K in 3dmark06.
I play cod4 and get about 80-125 FPS @ 1920X1200. everything maxed out. And on Farcry 2, I get 90-91 FPS avg. with the built in BM tool with 2XAA @ 1920X1200. I do run the GTX 295, but it isn't that much faster than the 4870X2, they are fairly close.

Just make sure you have the latest drivers and perhaps like Helloworld said, go to vista home premium...I can't imagine ultimate slowing that much, but I don't know.
And I also don't know if the games I play are nearly as demanding as the ones you are talking about, that maybe the difference! And I don't think 3dmark06 takes full advantage of the GTX 295 or the 4870X2. I am running the free one and I just don't think it is optimized for them at stock settings.

Hmm, well is my PC running at a good temperature? Also, can anyone suggest sites, or give me a quick run down on OC'ing my machine?

And yes, your temps on your cores look fine, about like mine 100-105 is where mine runs. course mine is out in the garage where ambiant today is 87 F

Here is where I have mine at...really out in the garage!!!!
