Hey all,

My PC is running fine and all, absolutely 100% normal, nothing strange, no strange smells. Although, yesterday I bought a new case fan (i cute 120mm cheap one :P) and I also gave the bearings on my existing case fans a small oil up (as I have done in the past and have been noted that its recommended). As I booted my PC up within like 30 seconds I could smell a really strong plastic sort of smell, not a burning one. My PC has been running for like 10 hours since this smell has been happening, and it is slowly going away. Has this ever happened to anybody, is it the new fan smell or is it just the oil from the bearings? Anyone have any suggestions as the smell is getting to me a bit [if you know what i mean ;)]

Thanks,

Steve

Probably its the smell of the fan's lubrication seeping out..I notice that cheap fans always having their bearing grease sort of leaking out and leaves a trail of oil along the fan blade, I put in some lithium grease for the cheap fans and they did perform a little quieter..

oh okay sweet well basically, the oil will eventually stop leaking right and maybe if i wipe the blades the smell will go away faster?
