As far as I know of, there is no such thing as DDR-I RAM. Where did you see it listed? Did you buy RAM listed as DDR-I - if so, give full details of mfg and part number.
its just the way they labeled the ram, instead of using just DDR they used DDR-I (probably is a 1 not an I) so that it wouldn't be confused with newer types (DDR-2 DDR-3)
All I can think is that the voltages required are wrong for your MB's default, but from memory ddr-400 was pretty fault tolerant when it came to voltages. Still, worth a try if your bios will let you adjust voltages.
