Convert PCI-E x16 to PCI-E x8 with a saw?

Can I chop off the 'surplus' pins on a PCI-E x16 card(SPARKLE Nvidia GeForce 8400GS, 256 MB) to make it into a PCI-E x8?

Did you happen to check to see if your x8 slot is open-ended? If it is, no sawing required.

Well... this is better than the guy who posted a few months back about how he cut off pins to fit it in a pci slot and wondered why it didnt work.... not much better... but some. I can't see this ending well.. If you are lucky you will only destroy the video card and not the motherboard with it...
