Can't pause longer MP3 files

I have WMP 8.5 for Pocket PC installed on my Dell Axim X5. When playing
longer MP3 files, if I pause the player, I can't resume the file--I have to
re-start it at the beginning.

It only seems to happen once the file counter has gone past the 12:00 mark.
WMP says "Playing", but the file doesn't play and the time count doesn't
increase.

After about 10 minutes, the following error appears:

Windows Media
A problem occurred playing this file.
Verify that your network connation settings are correct.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks.

I don't believe so. I believe Dell sells an OS flash update to Windows
Mobile 2003, that would get you WMP 9, but no guarantee that the same issue
doesn't affect WMP 9. If I get around to it later I'll try and check, since
I have WMP9 on my ipaq.

Update - the same thing does not seem to happen with WMP 9 on my ipaq FWIW.
Of course that's different hardware and a different file, so your mileage
may vary. I tested a 14:47 long, 128kbit CBR mp3, paused at around 12:30 for
30 secs, then resumed. Tested from main memory and a CF card.

Thanks for checking that. I didn't think the Axim X5 was compatible with
Windows Mobile 2003. I'll do some checking.
