I don't wanna be a party pooper but spend $50~100 more and get Core i7. If you're building a brand new system, go with the best processor out there. But if you're happy with 2nd place processor, go with AMD PII X4 955.

Intel Core I7 920 - $280
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202

Gigabyte X58 MB - $200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128375

OCZ DDR3 1600 6GB (3X 2GB) - $93
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227388

2 x Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache (put them in raid 0) - $140
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136320

Corsair 750W PSU - $120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

and add case, dvd-rw, and video card. Get a ATI HD 4870 1GB or the new 4890 and add a another card later if you need more gaming power. The Corsair 750W will handle 2x 4870 or 2x 4890.

You're gonna run one nvidia card on 790FX board??? If you're gonna run one GTX 275/280/285/295, go with 790X or 790GX board. You'll save some $$. If you're gonna go with HD 4870/90 series, 790FX is fine.

well i kindda play The Way It's Meant To Be Played (TWIMTBP) games, and i've always used nvidia cards, hmm i don't know.
Maybe I'll give Radeon HD a try.
As for the cooler, i originally wanted to buy a v8, a v10 would be cooler, but it cost too much.
Now i'm not sure weather a v8 is worth it or not.
I also have a question about overclocking ram.
The highest speed ram you can fit for phenom ii is ddr3-1333 but how do you overclock it into ddr3- 1600?

V8 & V10 are overpriced... get a cheap Xigmatek S1283 Dark Knight only $40 @ Newegg. Xigmatek kicka$$ and priced right. Or get a CM Hyper 212.

Only reason ppl buy 790FX board are the they want to CFX their ATI cards. The board(790fx) will run 2 ATI cards x16-x16. Thats why ppl pay extra $50 for 790FX, if you want to run nvidia card, just get 790GX or 790X. You'll save around $50+ and will get the same performance.

wait I don't understand why gx or x for nvidia? They don't provide SLI, that's why I'm asking lol. Are they more compatible or something? :S

No, they are less expensive and perform the same with only 1 GPU. The 790FX does not support SLI either, so there is no point if you are getting an Nvidia GPU.

Don't get the PII 955, its not worth it, that chip is a flop. Its the same chip as the 940, but has a DDR3 memory controller and has a slight bus bump, and a voltage bump to go with it. That means you would get an identical performing chip out of the 940 if you just changed the bus and voltage to the stock settings of the 955. AM3 isn't really worth it right now, unless you upgrade every year or so and will stick a later AM3 chip in that board. Save $100 and get a PII 940 and DDR2 ram and an AM2+ MB, you won't be able to tell the difference in performance. All AM3 chips to come out this year will drop into the Am2+ socket guaranteed, so you still have an upgrade path.
