I have no experience dealing with Newegg at all, so I don't even know why I'm posting.
From what I read from reviews on Newegg, the USA newegg sounds like they're willing to listen to customers and somewhat 'flex' their policies. Newegg.ca stinks, which is why I don't use newegg
It's worth a try, give them a call. Best of luck.
Oh yea, you can get an EVGA gtx260 for the same price in CAD, not sure how much 195 CAD is in USD...
What I did was set newegg to look at the bad reviews of BOTH cards.
It just seemed like the regular card's bad reviews were all "really hot card", "really loud card", "not enough space"
Whereas the bad reviews on the black edition were all about crashing, etc.
I don't know though, I can't find any recent postings about the black edition, only stuff back from march.
Would it be worth it to you to return and get the black edition for 15 bucks more?
I just depend on the MIR to make the budget for my build, and I don't want to have to RMA the black edition and find out I can't after getting the MIR.
I have an XFXGTX260 640/2300/192 card. I just purchased an MSI Lighning Black Edition hoping it would be better. Only thing it will do is enable you to apply more aa and get decent performance with it but it won't do anything that the higher clocked card can do..... like really PERFORM.
At this point it's always safer to assume that when picking cards of the same type ( GTX260's here ) that going with the higher clocked cards will give you better performance. How much depends on how you game and what you expect from them.
At this point in time, returning the card will hit you with a 15% restock fee and return shipping charges. Not really worth it IMO. Take it as a lesson learned and pay better attention next time. Tough thing for me to say because I screw up once in a while too. The card you chose will be ok don't worry too much about it.
@ swifty: Its not your fault... its these damn manufacturers that come out with modified video cards of the same chip until Nvidia or ATI come put with new chips. That makes a new video card every 2-3 months... IMO...WTF?!?!
So yeah... I just wait for a chip. It doesnt really matter what memory, a GPU is a GPU, you dont really get that BIG of a jump you want with slightly better memory. Unless you are ANAL about it or OCD or just want to be the best in a competition that will wear out your wallet.
I may want a high end GPU, but I also want to save money for a Porsche or that Audi R8. (I think I went off track here, but whatever.... I have a final tomorrow for Organic Chemistry II so I'm really wacked out...)
Haha its ok guys. I'm pretty new to Newegg so I didn't know what they do for people in this situation. It's not bad though, I got my build right near where I wanted for a great price. Plus, I'd rather not deal with RMA's and not having a GPU for 2 months.
I feel safer getting the normal core 216 and overclocking it when I feel ready.
