Hello, is there a way to turn an external hard drive into a NAS with some kind of USB 2.0 to ethernet adapter (i.e. NAS adapter)? Would that work if such an adapter exists?
If it would work, then i'm hoping that someone can provide a link to a NAS adapter that is between 20 to 30 dollars Canadian.
Your probobly going to have to take your external hard drive out of its enclosure and put it into something else. Sorry to break the news. Unless you were planning on hanging onto a warranty that really is your only option. I understand what your asking, but I have never seen anything that can do that.
Here is a cheap. and i mean cheap. enclosure that can convert your drive into a stand alone nas, not sure how well it would work. I would spend more and get something more reputable if it were my choice.
Actually with Addonics NAS Adapter you could take your standard external usb HDD and make a nas, it is a bit more expensive than your looking for but I doubt much cheaper exists. http://www.addonics.com/products/nas/nasu2.asp
