I want to build a machine primarily for heavy duty photo editing, with some light video editing thrown in as well.
I don't play games, not planning to OC. I've never built a computer before, so any hints would be welcome as well.:)

This may be overkill, but that's okay. Any suggestions are welcome!

CASE:

Lian Li PC-V2110B

Or
Coolermaster COOLER MASTER ATCS 840 RC-840-SSN1-GP Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case

NOTE: I'm waffling on the case. Just noticed the Coolermaster today. I want several things in a case. 1. Elbow Room to build 2. Quiet 3. Removable Mobo plate 4. IO ports on top, nicely covered when necessary.

MOBO:
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

PROCESSOR:
Intel Core i7 920

2-1TB 7200 RPM Hard drives

Decent Video Card

PCi-e firewire 800 card

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler

6 or 12 G's or DDR3 RAM

I forgot, Vista 64bit. I have the disc already, but nothing else has been purchased.

I'll get a good PSU, Corsair or PC Power and Cooling. Probably along the order of 750W. More than I need, but better than not enough. :D

Minimum gpu would be HD 3450 with passive cooling & built-in HDMI. If you want to zoom in & out & move an image around fast in Photoshop CS4, you need a better card. HD 4670 or GeForce 8800. Look for one that has either only a heatsink or a large fan for quietness.

While OCZ may not make the best overclocking ram, I had positive experience with their RMA. Did I say lifetime warranty? They also have a forum dedicated to memory. They won`t ask you too many questions before a mod will PM you for RMA. :)
