Hey Forum,

I was wondering is there a chance of running a 8800GS on a 300w Bestec PSU

Intel Pentium D 940 3.2Ghz
2GB RAM
HDD 300GB SATA
CD/DVD WRITER Lightscribe (i dont use this i can disconnect if it helps)
ATI HD3650

12V>19A

5V AND 12V must not exceed 288W

thanks in advance :bounce:

Your power supply is not powerfull enough to run either of those cards. Here are the minimum requirements for each card:
8800GS - 400W PSU minimum with 26A on the +12V rail.
9600GSO - 400W PSU minimum with 26A on the +12V rail.

The best card you can run on a 300W PSU in my experience is the 8500GT which is a pretty bad card for gaming but it is very cheap. With your processor it would not be advisable to have an uber powerfull graphics card because it will be bottlenecked by the CPU.

yes you run the card, hammeh has yet to realize Nvidia & ATI always overstate their GPU power needs.

I ran a 9800GT on a 305w PSU with 18A on a 12V rail
I know plenty of people who run the 9600GT on a 300w PSU

the 8800/9600GS draws less power then either of the cards mentioned. You can also run the 4670 which is just as powerfull but needs even less power
