I bought the ASUS M4A78-E motherboard few weeks ago....

(supposingly it should be 750SB/ 790GX Chipset)
Updated BIOS and so on...

but i didnt really check the chipset before i update and i did not pay any attention to it

I just found out that..... the current Chipset is shown as 780GX via AMD Overdrive

and i went in BIOS and check again.. BIOS shows as 780GX as welll

So.. i'm wondering.... what is the problem.. isnt it should be shown as 790GX? is it because of the version of BIOS? but i kinda updated to the newest

Why is it showing as 780GX instead of 790GX?

A download and install of CPUZ under MB tab will show which chipset is present.

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

EDIT: BIOS can not change the hardware (chipset) which is present on the MB.

CPUZ shows 790GX

perhaps.. its listed as 780G because 790GX is in the 780G family...
or at least i think so?

So, the chipset is 790GX which CPUZ indicates. Not sure what the confusion is. There is no 'family' regarding the the 780G. 780G is a specific chipset, as is the 790GX.
