Hey all, we just received our new SQL server... its a quad xeon quad core system with 128gb of ram.... what is a program we can run that will be semi-productive that will stress is? we have already done several benchmark programs, stress tests and such.... we cant put it in the work load until we back up all of our data on our old SQL server... so in the mean time its running Server 2008 Datacenter... we dont fell like running folding at home or seti... so what programs are out there that will be semi-productive for any means? by that i mean, we are making rainbow tables on it right now

I'd say run four Folding@Home SMP clients on that machine, but you aren't too keen on that idea for some reason. I would think that would be a better use of a big server than trying to make rainbow tables, but that's just me.
I guess since you're running Windows, put the server's IP address in your router's DMZ and then start surfing shady porn sites. Your server will be plenty busy sending out e-mails for South American prescription drugs and Nigerian 419 scams to millions of people in short order. If you want to stress it even further, install LimeWire and start downloading stuff. With any luck, your server will have the added stress of hosting warez in no time at all.
------------------------------Upcoming Overdue Build: Dual-socket workstation, ~32 GB DDR3, OS on a fast SSD, high-end GPU, all wrapped up in a huge tower case. Coming H2 2011.
Yes, I am actually still running the Pentium III 1.0B Coppermine in the picture.
