Hi, I recently installed the noctua nh-d14 on my i7 950 and used the thermal paste it came with. I overclocked it to 3.85ghz and im getting 40-45c idle and 70-78c load. Complete rig:

Motherboard: Asus rampage 3 formula
CPU: Intel i7 950 @ 3.85ghz
RAM: 3x2gb Corsair Dominator 1333 @ 1339mhz
HSF: Noctua NH-D14 2 fans and case fan Push-push-pull 9-9-9-24-5-34-10-5
Case: Cooler Master HAF X
GPU: GTX 580sc

Voltages:

CPU voltage: 1.3
CPU PLL: 1.627
QPI/DRAM: 1.31
IOH:1.144
IOH PCIe: 1.5
ICH: 1.111
DRAM BUS: 1.521
USING A x23 MULTIPLIER

Would the problem be the RAM or voltages? Please help Idk what the issue is here since I have seen others easily reach above 4ghz with this CPU and HSF at lower temps.

You may want to drop your multiplier and try increasing your base clock... you can lower your ram clock multiplier in order to eliminate your ram OC as the issue. you will want to eliminate the number of variables you change at a time though in order to specify the problem you are running into. i would guess that dropping to a 21x multiplier then slowly increasing your Bclock until you cant boot. then increase voltage a little and see if you boot. then do the Bclock again... as tedious as that may seem it is a good way to make sure you know what your issue is with every overclock.
