2500k stuck on 16X multiplier

i5 2500k
asus p8p67 pro
1053 bios version
gskill 1600 2x2gb ddr3 ram

Cpu-z 1.56.3
Real Temp 3.67

I had it running pretty good at various speeds, 4.4-4.8Ghz, stable with 1hr prime 95 stress tests. But as I was tweaking down the voltage and checking for stability, I see everything drop, temps, vcore, and multiplier. Now it seems that I am stuck with a 16X multiplier.
I have tried:
loading my other bios profiles that I saved before, and I can't get it past 16x even under load.
Default bios profile
Used AI Suite II's auto tune feature. When it was tuning it said something like 4.3ghz with a 103 bclk and 42 multi but after it was done I opened cpu-z and see it still stuck on 16x. Also 16x in the ai suite monitor cpu section as well.
Cleared CMOS
What should I be trying next? Re-flash the bios? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Try disabling C1E, EIST, and Enhanced C-States. Or try checking it under a load, such as Prime95
  2. Tried disabling C1E, and EIST, both still leaves me with 16X under load. What is the enhanced C-States and where would I find it?
  3. Bumping for help
  4. I still don't know what the problem is but I kind of found a temporary remedy. What did work was going into the bios, setting AI Tuner to "Manual", Turbo Ratio to "By All Cores (can adjust in OS). And when I reboot into windows I am still capped at the 16x multiplier until I go into AI Suite II > Tool > TurboV Evo > More Settings > Turbo Ratio > make any adjustment (even if it is from 37 up to 38 and back down to 37) and hit apply. Then the limited 16x multi goes away and it can go up to what was set in the TurboV. But I have to do this every time the computer is shut off/reboot. Is there a fix for this?

Oh BTW, I did reflash the bios to version 1204
  5. You might as well stop messing with it. It looks like you will be sending the mother board back, see: http://www.dailytech.com/Intel+Finds+Design+Flaw+in+New+Sandy+Bridge+Chipset/article20789.htm
"Intel Finds Design Flaw in New Sandy Bridge Chipset"
  6. Well seeing as I won't be sending it back anytime soon, I have switched over to the sata3 and would like to solve this 16x multiplier problem since I will still be using it

Believe it is C3 & C6, disable those...
  8. Turns out it was Asus's AI Suite II, uninstalled it and everything seems to working fine. Will probably try to reinstall it later

Run a program while watching the clock and you will see it go up.
  11. i have CPU-Z 1.58 , ASUS Ai soute 2, and i see multiplier still stuck at 16x .
I tryed reflashing bios and unstalling ASus AI soute 2 nothing happens cpu multiplier still at 16x.
TRyed manualy overclocking but multiplier still at 16x.
    pls any fixes ty
  12. sorry for bad eanglish
  13. @klemzy: try to stress your CPU and then you'll know if it's working properly or not, my bet is that you're not using it in full load so it'll stay at 1600("power saving mode"), which is normal for an i5.

This is spot on! While stressing, the CPU frequency boost to the value set by the multiplier :)
