Hello,

I recently purchased some new parts for my computer.

AMD Ph2 550 BE
Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H
4G (2x2G) DDR2 800mhz Corsair XMS2

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition. I have my memory in dual channel at 800Mhz. When I check my system properties its only listing the memory as 2.82G. Can anyone tell me why my 4096MB or 4G is not showing up? I think it could be multiple things but a list to trouble shoot or some direct help would be much appreciated. I feel kind of cheated paying for 4G and only actually getting 2.8

Thanks,

Andrew

What Bios are you running? I have the same mobo and had to flash to the most recent F5 bios to correct a different memory issue. Might be worth a shot.

I'll try that, thanks for the suggestion Xd9sc.

I updated my bios to F5 Bios and my memory is still only showing 2807MB when I know there's 2x2G. Sigh :|

does your bios show all of the memory installed

Click on system properties and you should see all 4Gb's.....

Do you have CPU-Z? If not install it and check under your memory tab, your PC should see 4Gb unless there is an issue with one of your sticks....

Yeah In CPU-Z I can see 4096MB of Ram but not in system properties. :|

weird....

have you tried booting the pc with 1 stick at a time? if not try that just to make sure all 4 sticks/slots are working properly...

I think I have the same problem too. I ran CPU-Z and all 4GB showed up but in system properties it only shows as 2GB.

can you please share your fix.

thanks

Try testing all slots with 1 stick of ram, this way you can discard the fact that one or more slots is defective... Then open CPU-Z and check that it shows the correct amount of ram. If you see all your ram allocated correctly then it has to be some sort of glitch in Windows....
