Frequent Lockups.

Hi all.

Here's my setup

Asus M4A78 Pro mobo
AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6ghz
4gb RAM
ATI Radeon 4850
Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1
PC Power and Cooling 500w Silencer

The system will occasionally just lock up, from just about anything. Opening IE, running a video. It can go hours without an issue, or just a few minutes after booting up.

I am running SpeedFan and the temps are as follows:

Temp1: 41C
Temp2: 37C
Temp3: -128C
Core: 31C

That's at idle. During usage they go about about 10 degrees each, roughly.

I have installed all the latest drivers for the mobo, sound card and graphics card, performed a disk defrag and tested the issue with the sound card removed, and the issue still persisted.

Help!

"Temp3: -128C": there's your problem: there'll be too much condensation and ice build-up :)

Or more reasonably, try removing half the RAM and see if it still locks up. Then swap that for the other RAM and see if it locks up.

If it locks up with only one particular set of RAM, it could be faulty RAM.
