Aloha, everyone. I haven't built a completely new computer for myself in a couple of years, and haven't built an SLI system since the late nineties. This is what I've ordered from newegg to replace my aging setup (4000+ x2, 4gb Corsair gaming DDR2 800, 9800 GT) and my biggest question is this: are the 448-bit busses of the GTX270s going to be noticably slower than 512-bit bus cards?

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W PSU
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz
ASUS M4N72-E AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
(2x) EVGA 896-P3-1170-AR GeForce GTX 275 896MB 448-bit DDR3 video cards
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive
Rosewill R5605-BK mid tower case
ASUS MK241H Black 24" 2ms HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor

I received the display already (thanks, newegg!), and WOW, it looks insane compared to my previous 19" CRT setup. Is this setup going to give me good performance on the display? Will there be any issues I should know of before I put this together? Operating system suggestions (strictly gaming and photoshop/dreamweaver)?

Thanks in advance.

There is a major problem with your build!

The 750a chipset only supports amd processors up to 95 watts meaning x3 720 max!

The X4 940 is not compatible as it will not be getting enough power. I would cancel your order quick, if possible!

Not supported doesn't mean it will not work, hopefully. There are other people who had posted on newegg about how well the board performed with the 940, which was why I had made the purchase. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll have to RMA it or something. They're on the way already or I might have cancelled it. D'oh!

Also, newegg offered the board as a combo with the processor, which was the other reason I purchased them together. I hope this works or I will be one sad mofo.

I hope it works, as well. If you get lucky you may get a good board that has enough power to run the 940, however even if it does work you probably will not be able to overclock at all.

Besides this it should be an awesome computer with plenty of power for gaming!

Good Luck

Just an update here... everything went very well. The 940 does indeed function on the board, and the setup runs like a champ! SLI FTW!!!

Great! I am very pleased to hear the good news!

I just ordered a x4 940 myself, but have not gotten a board yet, was going to go with a 790gx (non sli) since the 750a soposively only supports amd processors that draw a max of 95w; however this just may change my mind if it worked great.

Still weary though because I always overclock my chips. Have you tried overclocking yet!

Again glad to hear everything went well!

Hey zenneth I just learned something new!

IT Appears that the 750a by xfx only supports amd processors up to 95w, however the asus model supports up to 140w!!! I apologize for making this mistake and giving you a headache and worries. I just figured that all the 750a chipset boards had the same basic technical specs.

This is also great news for me as I will be picking up the asus 750a to pair up with my x4 940 as well!

You should also have no trouble overlocking that baby!
