This is my first build. I'll be overclocking, but don't plan to push the limits (probably 4.4 Ghz). I think I have a good configuration, but I'm worried about heat.

i5-2500K
ASUS P8P67 Motherboard
Crucial Memory - 4GBx2 DDR3 PC3-10600
Graphics Card - ASUS CuCore Series HD 5770 1GB
HD - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB
Optical - Lite-On 24 X iHAS424
Case - Antec 300
Power Supply - Antec Earthwatt 650

Three questions...

1) The Antec 300 case comes with two fans, should I invest in adding additional fans?

2) Can I get by with using the stock fan / heatsink that comes with the the processor or do I need to invest in a better one?

3) Based on recommendations here, if I did get a better one it would probably be the COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus. The problem is the ASUS P8P67 Motherboard is already overloaded with heat sinks. I'm a little worried about the Hyper 212 fitting between the M/B heatsinks and the memory slots. Will it fit?

Solution
1- Test it with stock fans, if you don't get good airflow add more fans.
2- The stock cooler of SB is very good, and SB overclock pretty well on air. Test it with stock cooler, let me know your temps. If you get high temps, go with a better cooler.
3- Not a problem, but I suggest you go with something more better. Titan Fenrir, Megahalems Rev.B, Silver Arro, NH-D14, Archon. If you really want get the max of that CPU you will need one of those coolers.

Good topic, I'd like to see answers to this too, as I'm having a similar build (i3 instead of i5), and I was considering the Hyper 212+ myself. Seems like good coolers nowadays are huge, you need a container instead of a case to fit them properly.

you will have absolutely no problem fitting the the 212 in ur Antec 300
it's quite a large case and the cooler, though large, isn't the largest in the cooling world
unless you have a side fan you won't have a problem
and 4.4 Ghz is pretty high even for the Sandy Bridges
you should be fine

The 300 Illusion actually comes with 4 fans. 2x120mm fron intakes, 1x120mm rear exhaust and 1x140mm top exhaust. ther is a base model antec 300 that only comes with 2, but i don't know if it can be bought new anymore.

1- Well i have an Antec 300 too, with 4 fans-2 additional were cm Led 120 mm- They do their job.
2-I got a hyper 212+ with a 30 % oc, it keep it cool..
3- the hyper 212 + fits in the antec 300. No worries here.
