I'm considering getting an high capacity external USB Flash Drive. I can't find out anything regarding the drives TRIM support. Is TRIM required on external USB drives?

TRIM is a relatively recent addition to the AHCI command set for Solid State Drives. To the best of my knowledge it's not supported by the Mass Storage Device protocol used with USB devices, so USB devices could not benefit from TRIM.

And even if you could somehow get a TRIM command to a USB flash drive, I've never heard of one that would know what to do with it.

USB Flash drives have their own wear leveling algorithms that work as best they can without TRIM.
