Wireless/Non-wireless

My roommates are considering setting up a wireless system for our house, but I'm a little hesitant because I do some online gaming and don't want an inferior connection with the wireless. I'm wondering: Is it possible to have both wireless and a regular network (with wires) setup?

  1. Yep. Home network hardware makers would be in a world of hurt if it wasn't. All Router/AP's will have at minimum one LAN side ethernet port. Most have 4 or 5 and some have as many as 8. You can always uplink a hub or switch if you need more ports. If your buying a dedicated AP it would connect to an existing open port on a hub or switch.
