I have an aging gaming rig that I built a few years ago that I would like to revive a bit to play some newer games. I am trying to figure out if upgrading the video card would help, or if the CPU would just bottle neck a faster video card. Here are my specs:

Athlon 64 X2 4800
ATI X1900XTX 512MB
2GB RAM
Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe

I do not want to OC the proc, I don't think my cooling has the nuts to do it anyways. I appreciate the help and any advice I can get.

Thanks,
Dave

You also have to consider the motherboard as another bottleneck. How much have you got saved? You'd be surprised at how much a pretty functional, overclockable gaming system costs nowadays, especially if you're shopping for parts in the US.
