I'm smelling something burning in my room..

When I checked, it was my COOLMAX GreenPower 1200w..?

Is 1200w not enough for:
CPU: i7 Extreme 965
GPU: Two 4870X2
Motherboard: Gigabyte Ex58-Extreme
HardDisks: (7HDs). They are Seven. 6 WD GraanPower and 1 Maxtor.
Memory: 6 of 1600mhz 12GB Total.

I want to upgrade my Power Supply from 1200w to 1600w

I'm not sure if I need to do that?

Yeah, 1200W is enough for that setup. I'm guessing the burning smell means that your PSU fried.
There's no need to get a 1600W psu, just a better quality 1200W one.
Just don't get the cheapest one you can find this time, eh? The PSU isn't a good place to skimp on a system.

Coolmax...o boy. Where are you shopping from? Give us a link to an online store.

And go for an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, the spacing of the PCIEx16 slots is better for a quad-fire setup, you cant have two of those GPU's right up next to each other, you will have heating issues unless they are watercooled.

I think it'll blow as well....

www.jonnyguru.com for PSU reviews. The Wolf DID like the coolmax 1350W unit, but said that the 950 was really a highly over-rated 600w unit. They did no reviews of your 1200w unit that I could find at all.

Also just to note... a 1600watt won't plug directly into your wall.. Considering 120 is your normal wall outlet. So while they'll plug in without a special socket you'll be getting 1200 watts anyways. So basically you'll to put in a breaker, and outlet to get the full 1600 watts anyways. Which as far as running isn't really all that difficult you'd just have to do a bit of research to make sure you get everything right. *breaker+socket type*.

On their website it says that it's 120A on the 12V.

Also, I didn't notice this before but I guess the OP is European.

Your post from the overclocking section so people do not need to go there, this topic does not really belong in the overclocking forum:

As I said in the other thread; refresh us on why you replaced your PSU twice already. Is it because you were experiencing the same issues? If so its probably not your power supply, that 1500w PSU should be able to handle any imaginable system. I would suspect your motherboard, but a more complete history of your problems thus far would be helpful in diagnosing this issue.

Hey..
HISTORY OF MY NEW PC:

- I used COOLMAX 950W with one 4870X2..
- Then I bought s second 4870X2 so I upgraded my PSU to 1200W..
- I faced crashing with 1200W during Games and full loaded uses. (I used every SATA, USB, PCI and Memory slot available in my motherboard).
- I faced high temperature during full loaded uses (The green, red LEDs were ON, sometimes even the orange LED:)) .
- I smelled something burning in my room.. It was the COOLMAX 1200W which stopped working (died) so I replace it with 1500W adding a fortune.
- Now the computer works fine, no crashes, no smells, even when I stress it to the utmost. The problem sometimes appears when I shutdown the PC. It will not work directly. I have to wait for about 10 mins or unplug PSU's cables and plug them again.
