It's been a while since I built my last computer (Athlon XP 2500) and wanted to build a new AMD gaming rig. Here is what I had so far:

Rosewill TU-155 Black 0.8mm SGCC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 400W ATX12V Version 2.2 Power Supply - Retail

I have a DVD burner from a previous computer and 32 bit Windows XP Pro. My biggest concern is if the PSU will power the system. I plan on getting a second 4850 in the future to run crossfire and will definately get a larger PSU but right now I couldn't fit that into the budget. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I found this on Rosewill's site
Votage Output:
+3.3V@20A;+5V@14A;+12V1@14A;+12V2@13A;-12V@0.3A;+5VSB@2.5A
+5V & +3.3V combined 130W MAX
+5V & +3V & +12V combine 385W MAX
TOTAL OUTPUT 400W MAX

If you're going to get a case with a PSU then go with the Raidmax SMILIDON at least

Just don't get the version with the LED PSU. That silver one is the older one, but it has 22A on the 12V Rail and is good enough for one 4850. If you want to add a second one latter on though I would recommend getting a better PSU. It may be better to get a chepo case and a decent PSU like one of these

I would get the Earthwatts 500 from pcboost.com They have it for cheap. I have it running my setup which is similar to the one you have. I got mine for 43$ because I did not need screws, and cables.

Also, Newegg has the Sapphire HD4850 for 89.99$ after rebate and a coupon code. I am sure you cannot go wrong with that.

Thanks so much for the information. I'm going to ditch the Rosewill and get a cheaper case, and a better power supply. I really don't care about the look of the case and am not counting on overclocking very much to start with. So as long of the airflow is decent any case will do. Any suggestions for a budget case?

Ok this may be a dumb question but I realized that lots of the power supplies I am looking at have a fan mounted on the top. (or is that the bottom) and the vent out the back. If the PSU is mounted at the top corner of the case the fan would be flat against the top of the case. Or am I looking at the fan upside down?
